WildIrisDigital.com/webdesign
(the website you are viewing now) is an example of our
approach to webpage design:
- Clean xhtml
- quick-loading (especially pages without
images)
- Utility - although we are concerned about
"appearances"; performance is more important to
us.
- Intuitive site navigation; easy to find your way
around.
- Clear communication (at least we hope that most
visitors will find the information and answers they are
looking for without too much difficulty)
-
WildIrisDigital.com/photography
- is our sister site; show-casing our passion for
photography.
- We demonstrate our modest graphic ability in the
header graphics.
- We take on the challenge presented by liquid design and allow our
images to "float" where they will.
-
Photo
CD / Portfolio - a proto-type
- This xhtml product can by used to showcase a
model's portfolio on-line and or on a CD that they can
distribute.
- It does not currently include a built-in slide
show, but it should be relatively easy for most viewers
to explore the CD on their computer and "play as a
sideshow" using any of the existing slide show programs
on their computer.
- The Photo CD layout can present four image
sizes/formats:
- thumbs
- 400x600px (depending on camera and crop of
photo)
- 800x600px (depending on camera and crop of
photo)
- and a master file for printing or further
editing purposes
This design might also be incorporated as a
gallery in a variety of websites.
Technical, Reference and Instructional sites:
-
Glow
Rod Tip Repair - This 5 page tutorial site was built
a few years ago. As a cable technician, I saw a need for
such a repair tutorial and created this site with photos
and step-by-step detailed instruction.
- We've learned a lot about webdesign since this tip
repair tutorial was constructed and, given the time, we
may go back and rework the layout, but we've added this
to our portfolio to illustrate the usefulness of such
an online technical resource.
- Offering such a reference to employees or customers
might prove invaluable.
-
High
Speed Internet Technician Guide - This is a "walk
thru" demo of a technician resource I built when I worked
as an HSI technician. I found a need for a way to create
one single resource for the huge amount of information
that I was responsible for. If you look at the menu of
the screen shot on the right side of the screen you will
get a sense of how extensive this resource was,
including:
- Company policy and protocol within a variety of
install/repair scenarios.
- Customized instructions for a variety of operating
systems.
- Cable modem manufacturer specific information and
driver info.
- Connectivity performance tests.
- Troubleshooting (again customized to each operating
system).
- And much, much more ...
Imagine how useful it was to have all of these
resources available to me in the field - just a click
away (both on a CD and online); much better than thumbing
thru a loose-leaf binder.
Editorial
-
an
Accidental Tourist
- For a time, it seemed that "blogs" were all the
rage. We designed, "hand-built" (no blogger software)
and maintained this blog for a little over a year.
Community
-
Ringo and
Shane - a site we built free of charge to assist
someone in urgent need of locating a new home for her two
cats.
- This is perhaps an example of how we focus on the
"utility" aspect of a webpage. Our aim was to be
straight forward, logical and concise in our content;
including everything a potential adopter might need to
know - laid out in a clean easy to follow format.
